She was crowned Powai Princess in 2007, alumni of Bombay Scottish school , Powai, who loves playing football and lead the team for 5 years in the mssa tournament. Here is short interview and a video appeal to all people in Powai by Bhavana who has been chosen to represent in “Kaun Banegi Miss Mumbai 2009”
1. How long have you been living in Powai? And why did you decide to make Powai as you home?
Well since the time I have come to Mumbai, that’s like 11 years, I have been staying at Raheja Vihar, Powai. My dad is the regional manager of oriental insurance and my mom runs a day care centre- India kids, in this locality for the past 10 years. The main reason we decided to choose Powai as our home cause it is very peaceful and lovely out here. Amidst the greenery, the relaxing atmosphere just lightens our mood.
Well in Powai there are various communities and the rotaract club keeps on organising various events, awareness campaigns etc. I remember taking part in the world disability walk like 5 years back, the aids awareness campaign in Hiranandani hospital. I remember compeering for the fun fair event on 26th January in Raheja Vihar. The most memorable time was when I was crowned the Powai princess title on 27 the April, 2007.The early morning football sessions, the laughing group of our elderly friends in the gardens early morning, the dandiya nights in Powai to the threatening attack of the leopard in Raheja on the small kid, The agnate celebrations all such events are very memorable. Well Powai since the time I have come has changed with regards to infrastructure. The greenery stretch has decreased, more hills are cut down for the purpose of building but still the feel of being in Powai is retained.
3. What kind of extra amenities would you like, which are at present lacking in Powai?
May be more of lawn tennis courts, A library of Powai which is very much required where people can come and read books of their choice and making Powai more commutable which I guess with the metro rail by 2011 should do good.
4. Tell us something about Yourself?
Currently I am pursuing my fybms in st. Xavier’s college, CST. I have been the school captain of the Bombay Scottish school , Powai.I love playing football and leaded my team for 5 years in the mssa tournament. I strongly believe that a student should involve themselves with the various extra- curricular activities to have a all rounder personality. I secured a 91 in my tenth standard and a 90 in my 12 the. After bss- Powai I went to RN Podar School (Santacruz) for my 11 and 12th. I love dancing and right now I am attending the professional course of Ashley lobo for contemporary dancing.
5. Please tell the readers how were you selected for Miss Mumbai 2009? What are your future plans if you win Miss Mumbai?
I read about it in the DNA newspapers and so gave a try in the auditions which were in Oscar hall, oshiwara. After a few rounds of ramp-walking, camera sessions i am now in top 20 of Miss Mumbai 2009. My future plans as off now would be completing my graduation and then trying for Miss India. I want to be the beauty with brains. Modelling is my hobby but I would pursue my career in a management related career.
