Sleep disorders contribute to mistakes or unfulfilled potential at school/ college or on the job and strained relationships at home!In fact, sleeplessness has been found to be a significant predictor of absenteeism.Sleep is not merely a time out from our busy routine. There are 85 different sleep disorders known so far.

Some of them could be silent killers, since the person concerned, is sleeping through it all! It has been shown that risk of heart attack, high blood pressure, stroke and diabetes increases several fold with sleep disorders.

India is seen globally as a ‘young’ country with the largest pool of youth. There is increased stress and performance demand on our generation than ever before. Alarming news regarding increased incidence of heart attacks and diabetes is highlighted in newspapers daily. Unrecognized sleep disorders play a significant role.

Institute of Sleep Medicine has a set goal. This institute is dedicated to improvement of public health and safety by achieving public understanding of sleep and sleep related disorders.
