Seed Foundation, an NGO which provides free & quality education to the underprivileged children, held its first cultural programme on 11th February, 2018, at Chandivali in Mumbai. The programme was attended by around 100 students, their parents, as well as teachers and volunteers of the Foundation.

The programme consisted of various dances, a mime act and a song presented by SEED Foundation students. The dances were choreographed and rehearsed by the students themselves. Gauri Bhasin, the President of SEED Foundation pointed out that the programme gave these underprivileged kids a chance to showcase their amazing talents, shed their inhibitions, and gain confidence.

The Chief guest of the evening was Mr Avinash Dharmadhikari, Senior Police Officer, Saki Naka Police station, who graced the occasion & encouraged the children to give their best.

The much awaited highlight of the evening from the children’s perspective was when Zumba instructor Lokesh Rane, of Sculptasse, took to the stage to perform a couple of dances. He invited the children to join him. The kids loved the chance to match him step for step in complete abandon.

Some children had done science projects under the tutelage of Dr Sulabha Pathak who is a senior scientist at TIFR and Co-founder& Vice president of Seed foundation and Pratik Lumba who is a science volunteer from MISB Bocconi. These included a burglar alarm, ship, kaleidoscope, etc., and were proudly presented at the gathering. The Foundation hopes to encourage more such activities in the coming months.

The program was a huge success and SEED Foundation would like to thank Mr. Sanjay Kalsekar for his invaluable contribution in setting up the stage and arranging for space, Mr Shiv Bhasin—cofounder of the Foundation—for program management, Ms. Shivani Patel, founder of Sculptasse, for all her help in arranging for a photographer, and the Zumba dance session, and Mr. Anjul Pratap Singh from Credit Suisse, who volunteers with the Foundation and teaches the kids spoken English, for the assistance in rehearsals. Thanks to the generosity of Mrs Sunita Devi Goenka of Lake Homes, every participant received a participation prize. The top three dances were also given trophies amidst chants of ‘once more’.
The whole programme was conceptualized & executed by Ms. Gauri Bhasin, the Founder & President of Seed Foundation. It was thanks to her untiring efforts and enthusiasm that the children had such a wonderful evening.
