GO BEYOND – the ordinary, was the objective of the event POWAI POP-UP BAZAAR.
On 31st August 2014, for the very first time Powaiites got to experience a unique concept in creativity. Women entrepreneurs, especially home-grown businesses were invited to exhibit their talent. This community bazaar saw a variety from 40 such participants. Products ranged from sarees, dress material, western apparels and accessories, kids clothes and accessories, designer jewellery, digital print bags and boxes, wooden trays, coasters and boxes, gift items, stationery, bottle lamps and diyas. Then there were very innovative start-up services of providing maids and help for any emergency, house-keeping services, online education courses for all ages and our well-known Tupperware.
The bazaar also highlighted creativity through some unusual workshops. Sufi music created a riot amongst the visitors. Anurag of ‘The Looking Glass’ got the event rocking by creating the Sufi melody. His workshops were thronged by over 30 participants who got to create their own music and carry a CD home!
Movie making by and for children was conducted by Miriam Menacherry of Filament Pictures. She screened movies made by children and conducted workshops on using technology to tell their story
Make-up and Styling workshop conducted by Neha gave moms and ladies not only a chance to shop for quirky products; they also got a chance for personal make-over!
In a simple layout of tables and chairs with complimentary décor of balloons from Party- Hunters and flowers from Ambrosia, the event was a grand success with over 300 visitors who braved the rain and took time out on a lazy Sunday to make Powai Pop- Up Bazaar an absolutely memorable and one of its kind event in Powai.
This event was put together by GO BEYOND. Monica Bisht, Head of Business Development at Go Beyond, will be creating such quirky events and workshops for her Powai community. Thank you all for your encouragement and see you soon!
