This year, true to the promise & the spirit, the team Think Beyond was back with the 2nd Powai Peace Walk. The 2.5 km walk, an annual event, was held to celebrate the victory of peace on 29th November 2008 over the terrorists who had attacked our city.

This year, the walk was flagged off on 28.11.2010 from Heritage Garden, Hiranandani Gardens, Powai by Dr. Indu Shahani, the Sheriff of Mumbai. The energy of the school children and the participants from various NGOs including VIDYA, UDAAN, Mobile Creche, MBA Foundation, Asha for Education, Mission Swayamsiddha, further boosted up by Dr Shahani  through her encouraging words of wisdom, was a joy to watch. The energy was matched by a large group of residents of the area, led by Senior Citizen Laughter Club. About 1200 participants walked for Peace and Unity.

The walk was organized by Think Beyond – a volunteer driven platform of conscientious citizens of the area. The group had began its journey a year ago on the first anniversary of Mumbai Terror attacks with a clear resolve to not observe 26th November as a dark day  but to celebrate 29th November, being the day of the final victory of Peace over everything that was against it, thus reiterating the Indian tradition of celebrating the victory of good over evil.

Think Beyond is creating a support group to help address various social issues that are deterrents to the peace, unity & growth of the nation. The group, believing in the mantra given by Gandhiji  – Be the Change that you want to be – have the objective to help bridging the gaps between communities through bringing in and encouraging a constant interaction.

As part of the communities of Powai, various corporate and organisations, including Rodas, Haiko, Deloitte, Chiron Panacea, Jaago India Movement, Young Environmentalists’ Team, Rotary Clubs and Toofle Foundation walked together for Peace and Harmony.
