Why wasn’t the contract renewed on time?
The BMC machinery takes time to move. As residents of Powai, we need to be extremely vigilant of what is happening. It was only after 50% of the lake got covered with Hyacinths that citizens started making a noise about this issue.
Hyacinths growth is a sign of polluted water. Somewhere between 7-15 sewage floodgates open in Powai Lake. Why hasn’t BMC acted on this so this expensive contract of cleaning the Lake is reduced and tax payers money saved. Source The Asian Age
BMC new contract will cost us 11.84 Crores for 3 years
As per an e-tender floated by BMC. The 3 year contract for cleaning and maintaining the lake is 11.84 crores. How can citizens of Powai proactively do due diligence that the contractor is doing his job as per laid rules?
We have a citizen forum to #savepowailake
