Why no Media has covered the Hiranandani Hospital Suicide Case?

A lady jumped from the top floors of Hiranandani Hospital on the 5th of August. I was curious to know who, what, why, when. I waited for the next day to read the news. There was none. I waited for few days and there was still no news. I took to social media and got to know that there is indeed such an incident that has taken place.

It is now 11 days and still, no major mainstream newspaper has covered this news.

We all know that our Indian media loves this kind of news as it gives them a good readership. So what could be the reason the mainstream media has chosen not to report on this case? This is their bread and butter which is readership which in turn drives advertising.

A journalist/cameraman from Tv9 is the first to tweet.

A regional language newspaper was the only one to cover it

Regional Language News Clipping

After many days, the same tv9 journalist tweeted this image saying the news has been covered by an “unknown” regional language newspaper.

This small news clipping in some unknown paper claims that the lady was 45 years old and was a heart patient who had undergone bypass surgery in the last 15 days. The name of the lady is Rehana Shaikh and she lived somewhere at Vikroli Parksite.

Why would someone who undergoes bypass surgery to save her life commit suicide?

If the lady indeed wanted to die why would she spend a considerable amount of family money to get a bypass surgery done at a posh private hospital like Hiranandani only to jump out of the window in 15 days?

I think this case needs to investigated for these two reasons

  1. Why no media coverage? No media coverage also tells a story.

  2. Nobody commits suicide after bypass surgery, it sounds absurd. Since she was in a protected hospital environment, there seems to be less of a reason for her to get harassed.

I would request people to start asking questions to eyewitnesses and neighbours and find the truth. This is the least we can do to give her justice.
