In order to comply with the recent guidelines and letters received from Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai, Panch Ritu Co-operative Housing Society situated at Panch Srishti Complex in Powai has taken steps for segregation of daily waste in dry and wet bins and composting of kitchen waste into compost to be used in gardens and potted plants in homes. The society has started composting of kitchen waste collected from the residents, in Bio Compost Bins.
Mr. Subhash Dalvi, chief nodal officer of the Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan division of MCGM graced the occasion on 28th January 2018 when the composting units were made operational with first batch of garbage in society compound. Mr. Vijay Ghodekar of PGR Agro Solution explained the process and gave guidelines to members of society and house keeping staff in segregating waste and composting process. With this initiative the society expects considerable reduction in disposal of wet garbage to garbage vans of MCGM thereby serving the community in achieving objective of Swachh Bharat.
Mr. S Kumar, Hon. Chairman of the society along with members of managing committee and residents were present on the occasion.
We believe that Panch Ritu is one of the first society in Powai/Chandivali area to start with the composting system thereby complying with the circular order of MCGM about composting of garbage within the society premises.
