If you have a sudden urge for Malvani food and you don’t have the patience to travel outside Powai, then we would recommend you to check out Vijay Durg at Kailash Complex. Vijay Durg is a modest place with pocket-friendly prices; the service can be a bit slow because its is mostly crowded. But this is the nearest place to Powai. They, however, do accept cards. A meal for two would cost you Rs 500/-

What to order –

The mutton vade goes well with the spicy lamb curry and for starters you go for the Prawns Koliwada (about ten pieces) which is very succulent. Bombil fry is very crisp, and one plate contains three pieces, and we bet you will surely feel like ordering another dish. Also, try the Surmai fry. If you lean towards the spicy side, try the Surmai Tikhale.
If you are alone, go for the combo options like the Surmai thali, the fish curry is tangy and spicy red and very authentic malvani style, and don’t forget to gulp down your meal with a glass of chilled sol-kadi (which is great for digestion).
The chappati’s are a bit thick, so it is recommended that you stick to the Bhakris.
