Amidst the lockdown, the youth of Sahebji’s Football Club unlock unique ways to raise funds for COVID-19 relief.
Inspired by the founder Pujya Gurudevshri Rakeshbhai, the youth of Sahebji’s Football Club (SFC) is a platform for hundreds of young people to unite for a greater cause through the medium of sports. In wake of COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic, with over 700 members currently, SFC decided to dedicate their efforts towards collectively raising 20,00,000 rupees for the Coronavirus relief activities by launching the #SFCunitesforCovidRelief campaign. They have been dynamically and creatively raising funds to support the 360-degree relief initiatives launched by Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care, aimed at providing relief to front liners, healthcare professionals, daily wagers and stray animals across the globe.
An inspiring example is that of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Volunteer Dr. Yash Hemani (PhD in Biosciences from University of Birmingham, UK), an educationist by profession. He is the founder of Raj Vidya Tutorial which is a Powai, Mumbai based coaching institute which aims to support the academic growth of students between grades 6-12 from International schools. He has inspired 70 of his students and their friends to become Covid Fund Raising Warriors aptly naming their group as Raj Vidya's Troop
Facilitated by Dr. Yash, super enthusiastic teenagers of Raj Vidya’s Troop came together to channelise their energy with creative mediums towards raising funds for front-liners, daily wagers and providing essential supplies to hospitals amidst the COVID-19 pandemic under SRLC. These teenagers have raised over 5 lakhs in just 5 days.
Dr. Yash says,”They are certainly home bound but their zest for reaching out to those in need is boundless! They are raising funds for Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care who is working tirelessly to support thousands of lives in the current crisis. They are coming up with creative ways of generating awareness such as Posters, Poems, Piano playing, testimonial videos, blogs, etc.”
Also, 200 youth of Sahebji’s Football Club have channelized skills, hobbies and talents towards fundraising too. Some are conducting Self-Defence & Fitness Training sessions online, curating customized artworks for people in exchange of selfless donations, while some held professional AutoCAD & Photoshop workshops online and some psychotherapists even conducted online therapy sessions. On gauging that entertainment is what the youth craves the most, some teens organized a team trivia and treasure hunt over Whatsapp where youth participated from all over India and donated the proceeds to the campaign.
These enthusiastic young individuals have proved that although we are locked down by law, our hearts and minds can be open to contribute and reach out to all those in need.
