About Manmita Gupta
I am the founding editor of www.mycitywoman.com and a proud Powai resident. By profession I am a financial analyst with over 10 years of work experience with firms like JP Morgan, ICICI Prudential life Insurance and DE Shaw.
Like a lot of women who face the dilemma of choosing between their careers or being a full time mother, I chose the latter. About a year into the career break, I struggled with an apt avenue to “do” something on my own and manage my young kids well too. At the same time I wished to make a difference in others life. My City Woman offers me exactly the opportunity that I was seeking.
How does it make an impact
I am blessed to be a resident of Powai. The area houses people who are educated and enterprising at the same time. While I wanted to feature women who are entrepreneurs, to my pleasant surprise, I found a lot of people closer home. I truly believe my stories have a life and inspiration to give other women to pursue their dreams. I have featured over a dozen inspiring stories already and many more are in the pipeline.
I found the story of Jigna and Natasha Nagpal interesting, both resident of Jal Vayu Vihar in Powai, who run a venture called “Papbags”. It recycles old newspapers and make useful paper bags out of them. “Reuse” and “Recycle” is their mantra.
Other Powai based entrepreneurs already featured by www.mycitywoman.com are of Mala Sharma and Pinky Panjwani who run a unique venture called paintparty.in and Shambhavi who is the Tarot card reader of immense experience and repute.
Overall, www.mycitywoman.com is a platform that women entrepreneurs can leverage to reach out to wider audience and well as inspiration to women who are still thinking if they should take the plunge into doing something on their own. There are a lot of content that women would be readily able to relate to on the site.
I would like to thank all for the support extended to me and my site My City Woman.com so far. Looking to make a greater impact in the years to come!
