Om Heritage, a relatively young organization, offers in its programmes a unique blend of spiritual talks along with vocal, instrumental and dance performances. The participating artists are mostly Powai based, thus providing recognition and encouragement for the local talent from its own community. The widely applauded program on 25th February 2011 was held at the fully packed auditorium of Hiranandani Hospital.
The evening commenced with an invocation by mellifluous Nirupama Rao (Heritage), who later swayed the listeners with ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’. The invocation was followed by dance performances by students of Dr. Suman Badami (Octavius), a leading exponent of Bharatanatyam. That age is no barrier to aspirations was amply proved by the self-taught 78 year old Mr.Bharat Gandhi (Eden II), who rendered a soulful Ghazal. Dinkar Suri (Verona) as usual never fails to make the audience hum and tap along with him. Subhash Khedekar (Lake Castle) rendered a devotional song on his flute with deep undertones touching the soul. Incidentally, all the songs chosen for the evening, though of a popular genre had underlying philosophical messages.
The invited popular vocalists were Hari Gandhi and Madhuri Palekar. Shri Bharat Mehta of Swaminarayan Temple conveyed a spiritual message, as to how we can transcend ourselves even through our routine tasks, if done with devotion. Cultivation of fine arts transcends us also to higher planes of consciousness. The entire program was conceived and planned by Meeta Vaidya, Bharat Gandhi and Arun Patil.
