Equipped with its numerous innovations and unique incentives for participants, IIT-Bombay is all set to make its annual cultural
festival, Mood Indigo, an unforgettable event in its golden jubilee year.
Mood Indigo, one of the biggest college cultural festivals, will be held between December 20 and 23 at the IIT campus in Powai. Over 500 colleges from across the country will participate in the 150 events and according to organisers, more than 6,000 students are expected to visit the institution during the 100-hour celebrations.
The theme this time will be based on the ’70s and early ’80s cultural scene. “Our mascot, Axel, represents the culture of this period. With its colourful dress and retro jewellery, we aim to make people remember Mood Indigo 2008 by Axel,” said Ishank Gupta, media coordinator of the fest.
Apart from cash prizes and the gift vouchers, there also are other incentives for participants. “Winners of the personality-hunt contest for the girls will get a direct entry to the regional finals of Pantaloon Femina Miss India 2009. The winners of drama and dance events as well as the Hindi band competition will get to perform and produce asong for a movie by Sudhir Mishra productions,” Gupta said.
Besides, Mood Indigo is also working for a social cause. “We will organise a blood donation drive across 16 colleges in the city in the first week of December,” said Abhishek Mittal, the overall coordinator of Mood Indigo.
Gupta said there would be many events that would happen for the first time. “Workshops will be conducted on areas ranging from archery and fencing to forensic analysis to Cuban couple dance form. Also for the first time, the heritage vehicles from the glorious days of the rajahs and maharajahs will grace the IIT-B campus,” he added.
