The aptly named Forest Park, located off Forest Street in Hiranandani Gardens in Powai, is a park that feels more like being in the woods. There are walking tracks, and seats nestled randomly and cozily into the foliage. It really is hard to believe that the park is located in the middle of a developed area.

There is some good news. According to officials from the civic hydraulic department, the Powai lake overflowed at 8.15 pm on Monday. While the lake does not supply drinking water to Mumbai, it caters to non-potable supplies to industrial units at Aarey Colony and Powai.

Hiranandani Gardens wears a deserted look today, as Mumbai is shut down due to the Bharat Bandh in protest of rising fuel prices. All shops are closed, and there are no auto rickshaws or taxis on the roads. Here are some photos.

After years of braving chaos at intersections at Powai’s JVLR, traffic signals have still not begun working and there is still no respite. Anil Balaram of Powai says, “Just when you turn into the Hiranandani gardens from JVLR, the signals do not work leading to complete chaos.

Article by Sir Ignoramus. I read a hilarious news piece and it would be injustice if I did not put it here. A crocodile carcass has been floating in the Powai Lake for more than three days, allegedly because municipal and forest authorities expected each other to remove it.

The carcass of an eight-feet-long crocodile has been lying on the banks of Powai lake since Sunday, when it was first spotted. Despite being informed, the civic body’s hydraulic department, which has been carrying out beautification work on the lake, is yet to respond.

Lets face it, we are not Bandra or Dadar, and most of the vadapavs made in Powai are for drivers and office goers. But that doesn't mean we don't like vadapav, as this Mumbai snack is a great leveler. So when Sudha Kanago asked on twitter, "where is the best vadapav in Powai? " we let our friends on facebook take this question.
