Thelma D’Souza Citizens’ Consensus Candidate for Municipal 2012 from S Ward 115

Thelma DSouza was selected as a Citizens’ Consensus Candidate for Ward 115 through a transparent process on November 20, 2011 organised by Mumbai Nagriksatta.  The societies, mandals and associations of Powai ward 115 were invited to select one candidate out of the three applicants.

She is a Techer by profession. She is a mother of two daughters.  One daughter an Electronic & Telecom, Engineer is employed with Infosys.  Second daughter is doing her 4th year B.Arch. Thelma has been actively involved with social work and ngo activities for over 25 years.  She was assisting her late mother, Celine D’Silva who was ex Minister in Finance and Tourism in Maharashtra and has been working for causes of women and weaker section.  During her stay overseas, she was actively involved in social and cultural activities in organisations for Indians Overseas.

She is Secretary of Priyanjali Foundation involved with HIV, Trustee of Little Flower School and Jt. Secretary of MANCH Mumbai and has been working for causes of weaker section and women. She was ex President of Gaints Powai and Hiranandani, ex President of Womens Cell, Bhandup and Powai, ex Secretary of AGNI Parksite and has participated actively in the movement for India Against Corruption, Protection of Mangroves in Mumbai and Right to Information.  She was actively involved with the organising of environmentally friendly Mandal Ganpati Competition for Bhandup, Kanjurmarg, Powai and Vikhroli

Since the code of conduct is invogue, she cannot outline her vision until her candidature for election is accepted.  We thank the Mandals, Societies and Powaiites for choosing her and we look forward to bring change in Powai Ward 115
