I have been a Airtel customer for 3 years, and last 4/5 month, Airtel has introduced a a new policy its called FUP or FAIR USUAGE POLICY. Which I feel is nothing but a sham and complete disregard for small chunk of customer like me . When I took the unlimited plan, airtel had a made a promise of unlimited download, but now my capacity has been clipped at 12 GB for 1099 + taxes, which is over in about 5 days on the billing cycle. It is a complete bullying on part of Airtel with the help of TRAI. It was very heartening to see that there is a campaign growing out of this and a petition is out there.
Quote “It has become pretty clear that the smallish broadband user base is not a major concern for them and they are not affected by this small group of so called power users who have been protesting against the Fair Usage Policy.” Read more..http://afup.broadbandforum.in/airtel-broadband-272/

What is FAIR USAGE POLICY?
Fair Usage Policy (also known as Fair Access Policy or Bandwidth Cap) is implemented by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) world over. A small number of customers use an excessive amount of the network bandwidth and impairs the experience of a large majority.
Through this policy, ISPs seek to address this imbalance and give all users the opportunity to experience the network in the same way.
Please sign the petitions below if you are an Airtel customer and have been affected by this FUP unfair policy.
To,
Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal
Chairman & Managing Director
Bharti Airtel Ltd.Dear Mr. Mittal,
This is in reference to the new “Airtel Fair Usage Policy” that is purported to be implemented by Airtel Broadband on its unlimited broadband Internet plans. While your company has failed to inform its customers and has failed to give notice of this change in policy, news of this new policy has spread over the Internet like wildfire, solely to your detriment. As we understand it, this policy seeks to place “caps” on ‘unlimited’ plans after which a subscriber’s speed would be halved/reduced for the rest of the billing period.
